Olivia Newton-John Dead At 73 Following Battle With Cancer

Newton-John was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992 when she was 43 years old.

“Grease” actress Olivia Newton-John has passed away after a battle with cancer. She was 73.

Newton-John died in her Southern California ranch early on Monday morning, surrounded by family and friends.

News of her passing was posted to her Facebook page in a family statement that read: “Olivia has been a symbol of triumphs and hope for over 30 years sharing her journey with breast cancer. Her healing inspiration and pioneering experience with plant medicine continue with the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund, dedicated to researching plant medicine and cancer.”

She began her singing career in the 1960s, though she did not become a major celebrity until her casting in 1978’s “Grease,” alongside John Travolta.

Newton-John was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992 when she was 43 years old. She was eventually declared cancer free after undergoing a modified radical mastectomy and chemotherapy.
