Tragic School Bus Crash in Ohio Leaves One Child Dead and 23 Injured
In a devastating incident in Lawrenceville, Ohio, a school bus carrying 52 children from Northwestern Local Schools was involved in a collision with a minivan, resulting in the bus overturning. The crash, which occurred around 8 a.m. on Route 41, claimed the life of one student and left 23 others injured, one of whom is in critical condition.
Trooper Tyler Ross of the Ohio State Highway Patrol provided details of the accident, explaining that the eastbound minivan veered into the lane of the westbound bus. Despite the bus attempting to avoid the collision by moving onto the shoulder, it was unable to prevent contact with the minivan, leading to the tragic overturning of the bus. Tragically, one student was ejected from the bus and pronounced dead at the scene.

Emergency medical personnel swiftly responded to the scene, transporting thirteen injured children to hospitals, while ten others were taken by family members or other means. Fortunately, out of the 23 injuries sustained by those on the bus, 22 were deemed non-life-threatening. However, one child suffered severe injuries and was rushed to Children’s Hospital for specialized care.
The minivan driver and a passenger also sustained injuries but were reported to be in stable condition.
The school district, which was scheduled to commence classes on the day of the accident, promptly established a parent reunification center at the nearby German Township Firehouse to assist families during this difficult time.
