NYT Is Terrified Of Mamdani, The Mayor It Helped Create
The article criticizes The New York Times for temporarily pausing its usual negative coverage, acknowledging the electoral win of Zohran Mamdani, a Ugandan-born socialist, as mayor of New York City.Though, the Times quickly urges Mamdani to prioritize pragmatism and compromise, advocating for a leadership team composed more of experienced officials than democratic socialists. The author mocks this advice, suggesting it reflects old Democratic policies-such as race quotas, high taxes, and defunding the police-which many blame for New York’s current struggles, including soaring rents and declining quality of life. The piece argues that voters, disillusioned by traditional Democratic governance and media hostility toward Donald Trump, have turned to Mamdani as a sign of frustrated desire for change. It concludes that Democratic leaders’ refusal to acknowledge policy failures has alienated voters, enabling the rise of unconventional figures like Mamdani, whose platform threatens further decline according to the author.
Credit to The New York Times editorial board for pausing its longtime campaign to destroy the country, if even just for a day. Apparently the mayoral victory of a communist in its hometown is cause for some concern.
At the top of an editorial late Tuesday, the Times congratulated Zohran Mamdani for his winning campaign. Then the paper dove into a panicked plea for the Ugandan native to please, oh please not be everything he promised to be.
“In almost every area that featured prominently in the mayoral campaign,” wrote the Times, “Mr. Mamdani can improve life in New York by marrying his admirable ambition to pragmatism and compromise.” The paper told him to “start by building a leadership team light on democratic socialists and heavy on officials with records of accomplishment and proven management skills.”
I’m sure the little revolutionary will get right on top of that.
When a major media outlet says “pragmatism” and “compromise,” it means 2010-era Democrat preferences such as race quotas and high taxes on middle-income earners to fund “green energy” projects. But those are the very garbage policies that turned a once-great city into a dump, along with the brilliant 2020 Democrat trend of “defunding the police.”
Outside of New York, voters saw it wasn’t working and elected Donald Trump twice. But instead of approaching the president’s appeal and platform with an open mind, which might have encouraged New Yorkers to do the same, the Times and the rest of corporate media viciously attacked him and his supporters as racist Putin lovers.
That hasn’t left the city with many options as residents have watched their rents increase by 30 percent in just four years, making everything else all but impossible to afford. If New York Times-approved Democrat policies weren’t working — even as the party establishment insisted they were — and the MAGA agenda is for Nazis, that left a Muslim foreigner who at least said, Yeah, these problems are catastrophic and the Democrat leadership has failed. I have a different way.
This has been a long time coming. In January, I noted Democrat leaders were setting their party up for the rise of their own Trump by telling voters everything they were doing was great, even as they could clearly see and feel it was the opposite. If voters couldn’t understand how much better their lives were under Democrat rule, it was the voters’ fault for not getting it.
The media helped get them to a place where an East African can become mayor in America’s biggest city and promise all the things that even The New York Times knows will lead to destruction.
