NY’s Soft Laws Mean No Consequences For Murder Threats

The left’s relentless push to “reform” America’s criminal justice system has turned compassion into chaos, as safety is sacrificed on the altar of woke virtue signaling. The results are terrifying: innocent Americans suffer on blue-city streets while repeat violent offenders are released — often within hours of arrest.

This problem is personal for me. Immediately after the assassination of Charlie Kirk, a deeply disturbed, convicted child predator — who boasts proudly of his crimes on social media—threatened my life publicly, and police were powerless to act. 

Timothy Philmon, a convicted sex offender, whose victims were boys ages 12, 13, and 15, threatened my assassination in a string of thinly-veiled, deranged social media posts. Philmon called Kirk’s assassination “the first day of MAGA hunting season,” implying the murder of more conservatives. He targeted me by name in that post and later claimed that a “civil war” was upon us, declaring that bridges and power lines would be destroyed.

Philmon warned me to “stop” talking if I did not want to be next. Philmon, a proud “organizer” of what he calls the Trans-NRA, also openly supported the Annunciation Catholic School shooting, repeatedly posted vivid descriptions about his crimes against children on social media, and claimed to be “recruiting a militia” of gun-toting pedophiles in NY. 

My lawyers were hopeful that this evidence would be enough for a search warrant, at the very least, but were quickly appalled by law enforcement’s apparent lack of power due to New York’s lenient laws on crime. One police department even indicated that it would be pointless to pursue Philmon, as New York’s pro-criminal laws meant he would likely face no jail time. Democrats are leveraging these intentional policies to intimidate and harm their political opponents while our citizens suffer as collateral damage. 

The House Judiciary Committee on Violent Crime found that these “pro-criminal and anti-law enforcement policies endanger all Americans and make American communities less safe.” Corrupt “reform” has created a culture where Philmon and others like him feel emboldened to celebrate the brutal murder of Kirk across social media while threatening anyone who disagrees with them. This sickness is the direct result of Democrat policies, and it’s not a byproduct; it’s the goal.

Democrats’ relentless push to defund the police ensures that dangerous criminals, including proud pedophiles like Philmon, remain a threat to the public. Law enforcement is left to watch in dismay as the system openly rewards criminals, and over time, officers grow disillusioned. As a result, police officers are leaving the force in droves, and recruitment has plummeted with the New York Police Department facing its lowest headcount in over a decade. 

The Democrat Party’s war on justice is now the law of the land in blue cities. Instead of fixing their mess, Democrats have chosen to double down by propping up anti-American extremists like Zohran Mamdani as the new face of their party. New York’s Democrat Gov. Kathy Hochul is backing this Ugandan-born charlatan with his open calls to defund the NYPD. Again, lawlessness is a feature, not a bug, of the Democratic Party’s platform.

Mamdani is no friend to New Yorkers. He hails from a family whose patriarch publicly glorified suicide bombings, 9/11-type events, and even advocated for suicide bombers to be seen “first and foremost, as a category of soldier.” And, this poor-excuse for a man still proudly maintains citizenship in Uganda, a country that executes gays. Nonetheless, the Democratic Party still embraces this foreign-born extremist with open arms.  

To be sure, New York is just one of many states suffering from the Democrat Party’s betrayal of our citizens. From Illinois to Oregon, such blatant disregard for the laws and citizens of our great nation is now the norm rather than the exception. Democrats even allowed domestic terrorists to form a no-go zone in Seattle referred to as the CHOP, where law enforcement was prohibited. There, the lack of a police presence inevitably led to the murder of two innocent children.

My thoughts aren’t simply formed by headlines but by my own lived experience. I saw with my own eyes ANTIFA’s violence, as they terrorized patriotic Americans during President Trump’s first inauguration. The media ignored their violence, but I witnessed it first-hand, watching them ignite limousines and terrorize citizens. Yet, Democrats and legacy media have spent years cheering on this domestic terrorist organization and pushing policies that make America less safe because chaos is their goal. If they can keep enough Americans beat up, confused, and terrorized, maybe these citizens won’t have time to focus on the devastating failures of the Democrat Party long enough to vote them out.  

And make no mistake, there are zero similarities between the right and left on criminal justice policy. Even the Alice Johnson case simply proved an approach by then, first-term President Trump that considered and enforced a commonsense punishment for a woman guilty of non-violent drug offenses. President Trump found that serving twenty years of a life sentence was plenty of punishment. The right steadfastly supports a tough-on-crime approach, while also focusing on a balance of such policy with fairness and logic — something the left has zero grip over.

The bottom line is that, across this great nation, the Democrat Party has created real-life Gothams replete with real-life supervillains. Terrorist organizations like Antifa and dangerous criminals like Timothy Philmon, Decarlo Brown, and Jose Ibarra, to name only a few, have capitalized on woke criminal “reform,” pushed by villains like Mamdani. This lawlessness has wreaked utter havoc on everyday Americans, and it must be stopped. 

President Trump is trying to do just that, but he cannot do it alone. We must join him, use our voices, and help fight back. The consequences of staying silent are undeniably life or death.
