“Here’s my question that I put out to the city. I thought Black Lives Matter. Where all those who stated Black Lives Matter?” Adams said.

In a recent interview, New York City Mayor Eric Adams called out Black Lives Matter over their silence surrounding a string of shootings that left a number of black victims dead on overnight on Tuesday.

“Here’s my question that I put out to the city. I thought Black Lives Matter. Where all those who stated Black Lives Matter?” Adams said in a Wednesday interview with Spectrum News NY 1.

The interview came as the NYPD conducted a massive manhunt for Brooklyn subway shooting suspect Frank James. James was arrested by police on Wednesday afternoon after injuring upwards of 30 people in the Tuesday morning shooting.

“Do an analysis of who was killed or shot last night. I was up all night speaking to my commanders in the Bronx, in Brooklyn. The victims were black,” Adams said.

According to the New York Post, police recorded six shootings over six hours on Tuesday evening into early Wednesday morning in Bronx and Brooklyn. 13 were left injured, and three were killed: a 23-year-old woman and two men aged 21 and 22. All three were killed in separate Bronx shootings.

“So I asked the question that was asked me when I was a child, it’s 10 am — 10 pm. Do you know what your children are? Why are 16, 17, and 18 year olds out in our streets armed with guns, 12, one o’clock at night?” Adams asked.

“When are we go to start asking these serious questions? If Black Lives Matters, then the 1000s of people I saw on the street when Floyd was murdered, should be on the street right now stating that the lives of these black children that are dying every night matters,” he added.

“We can’t be hypocrites,” he concluded.
