NYC Mayor labels white woman as ‘plantation owner’ in fiery argument.
Democratic New York City Mayor Eric Adams engaged in a fiery exchange with a white woman during a recent town hall event, where he referred to her as a “plantation owner.” The event, titled “Community Conversation,” took place at Gregorio Luperon High School for Science and Mathematics. Adams was repeatedly questioned about his stance on housing, particularly for homeless families and asylum seekers, as well as recent rent increases.

Katherine Diaz, Chair of Manhattan Community Board 12, raised concerns about the growing homeless population and asked Adams about his plans to provide safe housing for families in need. Adams emphasized the importance of understanding the housing situation and mentioned the aggressive housing plan implemented by him and the governor. However, a woman in the audience interrupted, accusing Adams of supporting rent increases.
Adams defended himself, stating that he doesn’t control the Rent Guidelines Board and that the decision was made by them. The woman persisted, comparing the rent increases in New York City to the 0% increase in Nassau. Adams then scolded her for being disrespectful and treating him like a subordinate on a plantation.
Asserting his position as the mayor, Adams demanded respect and urged the woman to engage in a mature conversation. He emphasized the need for mutual respect and concluded by moving on to the next question.
