New York City Mayor Eric Adams reported that teh gunman who killed four people at a Manhattan office building was targeting the NFL headquarters. The suspect, 27-year-old Shane Tamura, shot several people in the building’s lobby before taking the wrong elevator and being unable to reach the intended offices. The shooting resulted in four deaths, including an off-duty police officer assigned to corporate security. Tamura died from self-inflicted wounds. A note found on his body indicated he had a grievance against the NFL and suffered from chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE),a brain condition linked to repeated concussions common in contact sports like football. The motive behind the attack remains unclear.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams said Tuesday that a gunman who killed four people at a Manhattan office building was attempting to target the NFL headquarters.
Investigators believe the suspect, Shane Tamura, was attempting to gain access to offices after shooting several people in the building’s lobby. They said he took the wrong elevator, however.
Four people were killed on Monday. The 27-year-old shooter died of self-inflicted wounds.
A note found on the gunman’s body suggested he had a grievance against the NFL and that he was suffering from chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or CTE, according to the Associated Press. CTE has been linked to repeated concussions in athletes in high-contact sports, including football.
A motive has not yet been determined.

The shooting took place at a building housing the NFL headquarters and other businesses.
New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said the gunman killed an off-duty police officer who was working a corporate security detail. The officer, Didarul Islam, had been working for the New York City Police Department for over three years.
