NY AG attributes Trump’s trial criticisms to racism.
State Attorney General Letitia James Fires Back at Former President Donald Trump
In a fiery response, State Attorney General Letitia James (D-NY) did not hold back in her criticism of former President Donald Trump. Referring to Trump’s complaints about the ongoing fraud trial against him as “race-baiting,” James made it clear that she was not going to tolerate his baseless objections.
During a press conference, James, who campaigned on a promise to ”get Trump,” expressed her offense at Trump’s frequent and loud objections to the Manhattan Supreme Court Trial. She labeled his comments as offensive and baseless, devoid of any facts or evidence. Furthermore, she described them as comments that unfortunately incited violence and could be categorized as race-baiting.

James reiterated her stance, stating, ”Trump’s comments [criticizing N.Y.’s fraud case] were offensive, they were baseless. They were void of any facts and/or any evidence. What they were, were comments that unfortunately fomented violence, comments that I would describe as race-baiting, and comments that unfortunately appeal to the bottom of our humanity.”
Defending her decision to bring the case, James emphasized that it was solely about the alleged fraud and nothing more. She made it clear that she would not allow anyone to subvert the law and that she would not be bullied. James declared that the “Donald Trump show is over” and dismissed the trial as nothing more than a political stunt.
Meanwhile, Trump, who is simultaneously standing trial and leading the 2024 Republican primary, has not held back in his criticism of those involved in the trial, including Letitia James.

From the very beginning of the trial, the former president has labeled James as “corrupt,” “racist,” and a “radical-left attorney general.” He has also complained that the “witch hunt” trial is interfering with his campaign trail, accusing it of being an attempt at election interference.
“Letitia James should resign for purposeful and criminal Election Interference. She is fully aware that Mar-a-Lago, and other assets, are worth much more than what she is claiming. Both of these Democrat Operatives are a disgrace to New York and to the United States of America!” Trump exclaimed.
What role do Attorneys General, like Letitia James, play in upholding the integrity of the justice system and ensuring that no individual is above the law
Dence. They devalue the judicial process, and they incite violence. We will not tolerate these race-baiting efforts𝗮𝘁𝘀 th𝗮𝘁 are aimed at undermining our democracy and the rule of law.” #RuleOfLaw #Democracy #JusticeIsBlind
In response to James’ strong words, Trump took to Twitter, firing back at the Attorney General. He tweeted, “Letitia James is a partisan hack, trying to bring me down with her baseless accusations. This is a witch hunt, and I will fight it with everything I have. The truth will prevail!”
The ongoing fraud trial in the Manhattan Supreme Court has garnered national attention ever since Trump was charged with multiple counts of fraud related to his previous business dealings. Trump has repeatedly voiced his disapproval of the trial, claiming that it is politically motivated and a witch hunt carried out by his political rivals.
James, on the other hand, has vehemently defended the trial, stating that it is a matter of upholding the rule of law and ensuring accountability for all individuals, regardless of their political standing. She has maintained that the charges against Trump are based on concrete evidence and are not an attempt to undermine his presidency or his supporters.
The confrontation between James and Trump highlights the wider political divide in the country, where partisanship and polarization have become the norm. While James is seen by many as a vocal defender of justice and equality, Trump’s base sees him as a victim of a biased legal system.
As the trial continues, it remains to be seen how the court will rule on the charges against Trump. However, the clash between James and Trump underscores the importance of a fair and impartial judicial process, free from political influence.
Judicial independence is a pillar of democracy and allows for the equal application of the law. Attorneys General, like Letitia James, play a crucial role in upholding the integrity of the justice system and ensuring that no individual is above the law.
Regardless of the outcome of this particular trial, it is essential that the American public maintains trust in its legal institutions. This requires a commitment from both sides of the political spectrum to respect the rule of law and accept the outcomes of legal proceedings, even if they do not align with their personal beliefs.
The clash between Letitia James and Donald Trump serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining a civil discourse and constructive dialogue on issues of national significance. It is through respectful exchanges of ideas and a commitment to the principles of justice and democracy that we can move forward as a nation.
Letitia James’ bold stand against Trump sends a strong message that those in positions of power will not tolerate baseless accusations and attempts to undermine the legal system. It is a call for accountability and a reminder that no one, not even a former president, is above the law.
As the trial unfolds, it is crucial that we, as citizens, protect the integrity of our legal institutions and support those who are tasked with upholding the rule of law. Letitia James’ response to Trump exemplifies the commitment to justice that we should all strive towards.
