Following the catastrophic flooding in central Texas over the July 4 holiday weekend, the number of people reported missing has considerably decreased from 160 to just three. This reduction is due to thorough follow-up efforts by state and local agencies verifying the safety of many individuals previously listed as missing. The floods caused by heavy rainfall that rapidly raised the Guadalupe River resulted in a death toll of 134,including 27 campers and counselors from Camp Mystic,an all-girls Christian summer camp in Kerr County. Recovery and search operations are ongoing, involving local, state, national, and international teams aiming to reunite the remaining missing individuals with their families.

Only three people are still missing following the catastrophic flooding in central Texas over two weeks ago, a number that was revised down from 160.

Earlier this week, the number of people missing from the floods was determined to be at 160 as search-and-rescue efforts continued in the state. On Saturday night, that number dropped sharply to just three due to “extensive follow-up work among state and local agencies” verifying “many” people who are now safe from the flooding.

“Through extensive follow-up work among state and local agencies, many individuals who were initially reported as missing have been verified as safe and removed from the list. This has been an ongoing effort as investigators worked diligently to verify reports of missing persons and confirm their status,” Kerr County officials announced in a press release.

The release added, “This remarkable progress reflects countless hours of coordinated search and rescue operations, careful investigative work, and an unwavering commitment to bringing clarity and hope to families during an unimaginably difficult time.”
