NPR CEO has no ‘credibility’ following non-partisan claims: Joe Concha

In a recent commentary, Joe Concha from the *washington Examiner* criticized NPR’s CEO, Katherine Maher, for her claims of the organization being nonpartisan. Concha suggested skepticism towards her assertions, mentioning how NPR has been accused of biased reporting, particularly in relation to its coverage of President Donald Trump and other sensitive issues. He emphasized Maher’s past statements and the overall behavior of NPR’s newsroom as indicators of a lack of credibility. Concha also pointed out specific instances of perceived bias, including the network’s handling of the Russia collusion narrative and the COVID-19 lab origin theory. Moreover, he extended his critique to CNN for its recent interviews with cartel members, questioning the depth and direction of the inquiries. the piece reflects skepticism regarding the media’s reported neutrality and the trustworthiness of their narratives.

NPR CEO has no ‘credibility’ following non-partisan claims: Joe Concha

The Washington Examiner’s Joe Concha chided National Public Radio CEO Katherine Maher for claiming that her organization is nonpartisan, suggesting that one should take her words with “a grain of salt.”

President Donald Trump signed an executive order last week to cut federal funding for NPR and the Public Broadcasting Service, condemning both outlets for “biased” coverage. Concha argued that Maher’s recent comments regarding NPR being “an independent newsroom” fly in the face of her deeming Trump “a deranged racist sociopath.” He also noted that she claimed it was “hard to be mad” at the riots that took place during the George Floyd protests in 2020.

“I don’t know if you ever listened to NPR or watched PBS, but you gotta take this all with a grain of salt,” Concha said on Fox News’s America Reports. “But then that’s one too many grains of salts because there’s no credibility here when it comes to Katherine Maher, considering what she has said in the past and the way her newsroom acts.”

Concha was also critical of NPR’s coverage of the debunked accusations that Russia colluded in the 2016 presidential election, noting that the outlet interviewed Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA) “dozens of times.” He also contended that NPR dismissed the possibility that COVID-19 originated from a lab, claiming it does not “engage in conspiracy theories,” which ended up being the “wrong” decision.

NPR was not the only outlet to be rebuffed by Concha, as he also condemned CNN’s recent interview with a cartel member. The cartel member told the network that they are in an “ugly” situation since the Trump administration deemed cartel members as terrorists, but that these members “have to eat.”

Concha questioned if the reporter asked how cartels earn their money, which he argued is by pouring “drugs” into the United States or engaging in “mass child smuggling” across the border. However, he argued that CNN chose not to ask those questions and instead sought a “juicy soundbite” by asking about Trump.

It is not the first time CNN has drawn the scorn of Concha, as he harshly condemned a segment from the outlet last month featuring journalist Taylor Lorenz appearing to advocate Luigi Mangione, who was charged with killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson last year.
