Governor Kristi Noem of South Dakota faced backlash for revealing shooting her dog in her book. She didn’t confirm talks with Donald Trump regarding this. Her VP prospects dwindled due to these controversies, like the claim of meeting Kim Jong Un. Tensions arose in a Fox interview when questioned about these issues.
Gov. Kristi Noem (R-SD) wouldn’t say whether she and former President Donald Trump discussed a controversial story where she admitted to killing her dog.
Noem has been taking flak over the past week after a passage in her new book, No Going Back, revealed her shooting her unruly dog. She was confronted again about the story in an interview with Fox Business, this time in the context of whether Trump knew about it. After being repeatedly pressed, Noem snapped at host Stuart Varney.
“Enough, Stuart. This interview is ridiculous, what you are doing right now,” she said. “So you need to stop. … Let’s talk about some real topics that Americans care about.”

Varney then said that they were out of time, concluding the interview.
Noem has been repeatedly asked about the dog story as one of several contentious topics told in her new book, with the other most prominent being a claim that she personally met North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
Noem, considered a top candidate to be Trump’s 2024 running mate just weeks ago, has seen her chances crater over the scandal associated with the dog and Kim stories. Sources reportedly told Rolling Stone that Trump was “disgusted” by the dog killing story and condemned her public relations skills in the aftermath.
Nevertheless, Noem has noted in many of her recent interviews that she still frequently speaks with Trump.

She had another contentious interview on CBS News’s Face The Nation when she was repeatedly asked about the Kim story.
“This morning in our 15-minute interview, Margaret Brennan interrupted me 36 times — once every 25 seconds on average,” Noem wrote in a post on X. “But when liberals like [Gretchen Whitmer] and [Nancy Pelosi] are on @FaceTheNation, they aren’t interrupted once. In the fake news media, there are two sets of rules, and conservative[s] are always treated differently. That’s why Americans don’t trust the Fake News.”
