Nikki Haley urges GOP: Continue supporting Ukraine with billions, don’t withdraw.

Republican presidential ‌candidate ‌Nikki Haley calls for ‍increased support to ‌Ukraine

In a recent interview, Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley expressed her belief that⁤ Republicans should be ⁢in favor of providing additional support to Ukraine in its ongoing ‌war against Russia. Haley argued that this support‍ would only constitute a small portion of the U.S. defense budget.

Haley⁢ made⁢ these⁢ remarks during an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper on “State of the ⁢Union.” The discussion arose when ‌Tapper asked about the G20’s failure to condemn ⁢Russia’s ⁢invasion of Ukraine in their recent statement.

“It was ‌a win ‍for Russia and China. They’re celebrating⁣ today,” Haley stated. “I mean, what we should have had was, Biden should have really pushed hard to acknowledge what he acknowledged a year ago, ‍that Russia invaded a pro-American, freedom-loving country. And that’s a fact. And to deny a fact a year later⁢ is giving ‌a win to‌ Russia.”

Tapper⁣ then questioned whether ⁢some House Republicans were making a mistake by attempting to remove $24 billion in aid to ‌Ukraine from the upcoming government spending bill.

“I think⁣ that you‌ have ⁤to ‍look at the fact that only 3.5 percent of our defense budget has been allocated towards Ukraine,” Haley responded.⁣ “That’s just 3.5 percent. In terms of GDP, 11 countries have actually spent more than us.”

Haley emphasized the importance ‍of ‍preventing a ⁤full-on ‌war, stating, “We know that Russia has expressed⁣ their intentions to target Poland‍ and the Baltics once they have control over Ukraine. By ‍providing equipment and ammunition ⁢to Ukraine, we are actively working to prevent war. That’s ⁤a pretty good ⁣return on investment.”

“I think that we ⁣need to continue supporting Ukraine⁢ with our allies to ensure their victory,” she added, clarifying that she did not advocate for deploying troops on‍ the ⁢ground.

Haley concluded by urging‍ both Republicans and Democrats not to repeat the mistakes made in Afghanistan, stating, “Don’t go pulling out now.”
