Nikki Haley would pardon Trump if convicted
Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley: I Would Pardon Trump
During a New Hampshire campaign event, Haley engaged in a lively conversation with 9-year-old Adam, who compared her to John Kerry and called her a “flip-flopper” like former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. The young boy didn’t hold back and directly asked Haley if she would pardon the Republican front-runner.
“I would pardon Trump if he is found guilty,” Haley confidently responded. ”As a leader, it’s crucial to consider what’s in the best interest of our country.”
“Having an 80-year-old man sitting in jail, continuously dividing our nation, is not in the best interest of our country,” she added.
Trump is currently facing multiple criminal indictments and civil legal battles. Despite this, Haley emphasized that she believed Trump was the right president at the right time and agreed with many of his policies. However, she expressed her belief that he is not the right president to move forward with.
“We can’t handle the chaos anymore,” Haley asserted, also noting Christie’s obsession with Trump.
In a previous interview on the Conservative Clay Travis and Buck Sexton radio show, Haley had condemned Trump’s actions regarding national security but stated that he should not be imprisoned for mishandling classified documents at his Florida estate. She emphasized that a pardon should be based on what is best for the country rather than guilt.
Haley’s remarks on Thursday preceded Trump’s disqualification from the 2024 Maine primary ballot by Maine’s Democratic secretary of state, citing the Constitution’s insurrection clause.
Why did Haley believe pardoning Trump would be in the best interest of the country?
