In a fiery appearance on NBC News’s Meet the Press, Nikki Haley criticized the Republican National Committee (RNC), accusing them of not being an honest broker in the 2024 GOP primary.
“Clearly not,” Haley responded when asked if she believed the RNC had served as an “honest broker” in the 2024 GOP primary. She expressed her concern about the RNC deciding the nominee after only two states had voted, stating, “This is a democracy. The American people want to have their say in who is going to be their nominee, we need to give them that.”
Haley also highlighted her recent rally in South Carolina, where she saw a crowd of approximately 1,500 supporters, emphasizing that Americans want to make their own decision in the primary.
“I think that Trump overstepped when he pushed them to do it, and I think that’s why he’s had to back down, and that was the right thing to do was to back down,” Haley stated, referring to Trump’s influence on the RNC’s decision-making process.
When pressed for concrete evidence of Trump’s involvement, Haley pointed out that the people pushing for it were “his people” and mentioned his efforts to halt debates and request financial support for his lawsuits.
Despite her current low polling numbers, Haley expressed confidence in her ability to win, drawing parallels to her successful run for governor in the past.
