New Orleans Police Dept. deploys anti-looting task force

The New Orleans Police Department deployed an anti-looting task force to stop criminals from taking advantage of the fallout from Hurricane Ida. On Monday, New Orleans Police Chief Shaun Ferguson said the police have already arrested some criminals.
Ferguson added looters won’t be tolerated and asserted they would be locked up. In a tweet on Monday, the New Orleans Police Department encouraged residents to “be good neighbors and say something when you see something.”
“We have received numerous calls of looting and as such, we have made several arrests. We will get you that information later, but this will not be tolerated,” Chief Ferguson asserted. “I said this yesterday, I will say it today and I will say it tomorrow. This will not be tolerated. We have made those arrests. This is a state felony and we will be booking you accordingly.”

Meanwhile, there are currently over one million Louisiana residents still experiencing a power outage.
