Netanyahu highlights US collaboration in Jenin operation for security.

U.S. and Israeli Security Ties at an All-Time High

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu proudly declared that the alliance between the United States and Israel is stronger than ever. This statement comes as the Israeli Defense Forces carry out a rare large-scale military operation in the West Bank.

“America has provided Israel with moral and political backing against those who would wipe us out, the only Jewish state,” Netanyahu said Monday. “Security cooperation has never been better; intelligence sharing has never been deeper.”

Netanyahu made these remarks during an appearance at the U.S. Embassy’s Independence Day event, which coincided with an Israeli Defense Forces raid on a Palestinian refugee camp in Jenin. Israeli officials have labeled this camp as the “terrorism hub” of the West Bank. Despite President Joe Biden’s distance from Netanyahu, U.S. officials have affirmed their support for “Israel’s security and right to defend its people against Hamas” during the Jenin operation.

A Strong Message to Terrorism

“We are [placing] a new equation in front of terrorism all the time,” Netanyahu emphasized at the embassy event. “Our main principle is simple: Anyone who murders Israelis, anyone who wishes to murder us, belongs either in prison or the grave. Anyone who hurts us, anyone who sends terror against us, will be doomed.”

The Israeli officials launched a “brigade-level raid” on Monday morning to target the Jenin Brigades, a network of Palestinian fighters associated with the Palestinian Islamic Jihad. Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen clarified that their fight is not with Palestinians but with the proxies of Iran in the region, primarily Hamas and Islamic Jihad.

Israeli forces have encountered multiple clashes with the Palestinian fighters, including an incident last month where an improvised explosive device was used against an IDF vehicle. In response, Israeli officials deployed a helicopter gunship for a rescue mission.

The recent raid in Jenin is being described as the largest Israeli military operation in the West Bank since 2006. Israeli officials have shared photos of numerous explosive devices discovered in Jenin, including a mosque.

“The soldiers also located and confiscated two-way radios and military equipment from the site,” the IDF reported. “In addition, IDF soldiers located an explosives manufacturing facility that contained dozens of improvised explosive devices and a guidebook on how to make additional explosive devices.”

Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad have threatened retaliation over the IDF’s actions, leading to the evacuation of 3,000 Palestinians. The militants have called on all Palestinians in the Jenin area to join the struggle against the occupation.

Israeli officials have not provided a timeline for the operation, stating that there are still many goals they wish to achieve.
