Most US gas generators will not meet new safety standards.
The Left’s Gas Ban: Now Targeting Gas Generators
Several months ago, the Biden administration and its left-wing supporters dismissed warnings that President Joe Biden intended to take away everyone’s gas-fueled appliances. However, in recent months, his administration and other Democratic governments have begun floating new regulations that do just that. And now, Biden is setting his sights on gas generators.
Gas generators are a crucial backup for thousands of Americans when the public electric grid blacks out. They power lifesaving medical equipment in homes and businesses, keeping people alive during power outages. But they have become the latest target of the left’s gas ban.
Earlier this year, news broke that the Biden administration was considering banning gas-fueled kitchen stoves. The Consumer Product Safety Commission suggested that the 35 percent of U.S. homes using gas stoves should consider getting rid of them. This idea was pushed by Richard Trumka Jr., a member of the PSC, who claimed it was necessary to “save the children” from emissions that could cause asthma and other ailments.
Despite the lack of scientific evidence supporting Trumka’s concerns, liberals criticized conservatives for suggesting that Biden was planning to ban gas stoves. Media outlets like NPR and Architectural Digest denied the existence of any such ban. However, Democrat-controlled states like Berkeley, California, and New York have already passed laws banning new gas stoves in their jurisdictions.
Since the gas stove controversy, both Democrat-controlled states and the federal government have begun proposing laws and regulations that aim to outlaw a growing list of gas-fueled appliances, including gas water heaters, gas furnaces, and now, even gas generators.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission is now proposing a rule that limits the amount of carbon monoxide a product can emit, effectively banning most portable gas generators on the market. These stringent rules would require manufacturers to redesign their generators to comply, leading to shortages and higher prices for consumers.
Furthermore, the proposed regulations would force generators to run at higher temperatures, posing a fire hazard to homeowners. The Portable Generator Manufacturers’ Association has criticized these rules, stating that they would lead to higher costs for consumers and create safety concerns.
So, when the left denies their intention to ban gas-powered devices, they are lying. They are coming for your stove, water heater, furnace, and generator.
