Musk bewails ‘Porky Pig Party,’ vows Trump tax bill backers will lose in 2026 if ‘last thing I do’ – Washington Examiner

Elon Musk has intensified his criticism of President Donald Trump, especially regarding Trump’s proposed legislation, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. Musk has threatened to establish a new political party, dubbed the “America Party,” to challenge Republican lawmakers who support the bill in the 2026 primaries. He condemned the bill for its expected increase of the debt ceiling by five trillion dollars, labeling the political landscape a “Porky Pig Party” that prioritizes excessive government spending over the needs of the people. Musk has vowed to oppose members of Congress who go against promises to reduce spending. He plans to form the America Party if the legislation passes, emphasizing the need for a viable alternative to the current political system dominated by both major parties. This renewed conflict between musk and Trump, which had recently seen a cooling of tensions, could lead to a lasting rift, as Musk continues to call for accountability among lawmakers regarding fiscal responsibility.

Elon Musk reopened his feud with President Donald Trump, pledging to oppose those in Congress who backed the president’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act and create a new political party if it passes.

After weeks of tempering his criticism of Trump’s major legislative push, the former Department of Government Efficiency chief reignited his offensive in earnest, saying he would create the “America Party” and fight those who voted in favor in the 2026 primaries.

“It is obvious with the insane spending of this bill, which increases the debt ceiling by a record FIVE TRILLION DOLLARS that we live in a one-party country — the PORKY PIG PARTY!!” Musk said in a post on X. “Time for a new political party that actually cares about the people.”

“How can you call yourself the Freedom Caucus if you vote for a DEBT SLAVERY bill with the biggest debt ceiling increase in history?” he added, specifically tagging Reps. Andy Harris (R-MD) and Chip Roy (R-TX).

Musk threatened to turn his threats into action in a follow-up post.

“Every member of Congress who campaigned on reducing government spending and then immediately voted for the biggest debt increase in history should hang their head in shame! And they will lose their primary next year if it is the last thing I do on this Earth,” he vowed.

Musk said his new party would be founded immediately after the One Big Beautiful Bill Act passes.

“If this insane spending bill passes, the America Party will be formed the next day. Our country needs an alternative to the Democrat-Republican uniparty so that the people actually have a VOICE,” he said.

Musk criticized the Senate’s version of the bill as “utterly insane and destructive” on Sunday, saying it would “destroy millions of jobs in America and cause immense strategic harm to our country!”

Sens. Rand Paul (R-KY) and Thom Tillis (R-NC) showed support for Musk’s criticisms of the bill, with Musk reposting Tillis’s praise on Monday.

Musk’s new threats are likely to draw the ire of Trump himself after their explosive feud, which ignited earlier this month, had begun to cool down. The president gave a charitable assessment of Musk in a Friday interview with Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo, which was aired on Sunday.

“He got a little bit upset, and you know that wasn’t appropriate,” Trump said of Musk’s blowup earlier this month, adding that he has “not spoken to him much” since.

Trump again pinned the real reason for the public argument on the rescission of electric vehicle subsidies, though he sprinkled praise for Musk throughout.

“I don’t want everybody to have to have an electric car. You know, I campaigned on, you have a choice if you want a gasoline power, if you want a hybrid, if you want — I love the electric, I love his cars. I think he’s fantastic, but not everybody should have that.”

The founding of a new party would likely make his rift with Trump permanent. Musk had previously begun scaling back some of his rhetoric, saying he regretted “some” of what he said on June 5 and that he had gone “too far.”
