Mullin says Trump being ‘open and transparent’ asking Bondi to target political enemies
The article reports that Senator Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) defended former President Donald Trump’s public calls for Attorney General Pam Bondi to investigate his political opponents, including former FBI Director James Comey, senator Adam Schiff, and new York Attorney General Letitia James. Trump voiced his frustration on Truth Social, urging Bondi to take action against these figures whom he accuses of wrongdoing. Mullin praised Trump’s openness and transparency, emphasizing that Trump’s supporters appreciate his forthrightness and agreeing that Comey and Schiff should face scrutiny.
The article also notes ongoing investigations involving Comey and Schiff: the Department of Homeland Security and FBI have looked into comey’s conduct, while the Department of Justice is investigating Schiff, James, and a Federal reserve governor for mortgage fraud. Schiff responded to Trump’s posts by condemning what he called political retaliation.when asked if he would fire Bondi if she failed to indict James, Trump said no and complimented Bondi’s performance as Attorney General. Trump also denied ever threatening DOJ officials over prosecutorial decisions, stating he simply reviews the facts.
Mullin says Trump being ‘open and transparent’ asking Bondi to target political enemies
Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) said President Donald Trump is speaking his mind by publicly asking Attorney General Pam Bondi to target his political rivals, including former FBI Director James Comey, Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA), and New York Attorney General Letitia James.
Trump posted on Truth Social last night, directly addressing Bondi, saying, “Pam: I have reviewed over 30 statements and posts saying that, essentially, ‘same old story as last time, all talk, no action. Nothing is being done. What about Comey, Adam ‘Shifty’ Schiff, Leticia??? They’re all guilty as hell, but nothing is going to be done.’”
The president added that “Justice must be served, now!”
Mullin specifically spoke about Comey and Schiff, saying “their actions need to be looked into,” in an interview on CNN’s State of the Union on Sunday.
“I think what we know is, President Trump is very open and transparent with the American people, and he speaks his mind. And that’s what his supporters love about him, and that’s what America loves about him. I don’t think there’s any question that Comey should be looked at,” Mullin said in response to Trump’s post.
The Department of Homeland Security launched an investigation into Comey in May over an image he posted suggesting the “86”-ing of Trump. The FBI is also investigating Comey over his handling of the inquiry into possible ties between Trump and Russia.
The Department of Justice is currently investigating Schiff, James, and Federal Reserve governor Lisa Cook for mortgage fraud.
Schiff shared a screenshot of Trump’s Truth Social post on his X account, writing, “There’s no hiding the political retaliation and weaponization. It’s all out in the open.”
“If they did something illegal, if they were leaking classified information, if they used their position of power for corruption, then they 100% should be held accountable,” Mullin said.
When White House reporters asked Trump earlier on Sunday if he would fire Bondi if she did not indict James, he swiftly responded no.
“No,” Trump said. “Pam Bondi is doing a great job. I think Pam Bondi is going to go down as one of the best attorney generals of the ages.”
TRUMP NOMINATES LINDSEY HALLIGAN FOR TOP VIRGINIA PROSECUTOR
Trump said he has never threatened DOJ leadership for refusing to prosecute James.
“I don’t do that. I mean, I look at the facts like everybody else. You read the facts, and to me she looks terrible, she looks like she’s very guilty. But that’s going to be up to the DOJ,” Trump said.
