MTG Presents New Mayorkas Impeachment Resolution
Marjorie Taylor Greene Renews Push to Impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas
As promised, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has returned to the House floor after the Thanksgiving break to renew her efforts to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. In a bold move, Greene introduced a new resolution accusing Mayorkas of “high crimes and misdemeanors” in his handling of border security.
“Impeachment is EXACTLY what the founders intended for the House to do when a member of the executive branch intentionally violates the laws written by the legislative branch,” Greene declared in a powerful statement.
Earlier this month, eight Republicans joined with all voting Democrats to approve a motion that sent Greene’s previous impeachment resolution to the House Homeland Security Committee. This committee is already investigating Mayorkas for alleged dereliction of duty, which could potentially lead to impeachment proceedings in the future.
The Department of Homeland Security has dismissed the impeachment efforts as “reckless charades” by congressional Republicans. Mayorkas himself remains focused on his work and expressed pride in supporting the department’s dedicated employees.
While some GOP members have expressed a desire to see Mayorkas impeached, they emphasize the need for a careful and thorough process that ensures a conviction in the Democrat-controlled Senate.
Rep. Tom McClintock (R-CA), one of the eight Republicans who voted in favor of sending Greene’s resolution to committee, delivered a passionate speech warning against a “new definition” of impeachment. He urged his fellow Republicans to avoid repeating the “sham impeachments” conducted by Democrats against former President Donald Trump.
Greene, however, remains steadfast in her pursuit of impeachment. She argues that sending the articles to committee would effectively kill the effort and insists that the American people demand action.
“Impeachment IS due process. It’s time for the Senate to try Mayorkas for his violation of our border security laws,” Greene asserted.

How likely is it that Greene’s impeachment resolution against Mayorkas will succeed in the Democrat-controlled House
En members of the executive branch abuse their power,” Greene declared during her impassioned speech on the House floor. ”Mayorkas has shown a blatant disregard for our national security and has failed to uphold his duty to protect our borders.”
This renewed push for impeachment comes as no surprise, as Greene has been a vocal critic of the Biden administration’s immigration policies since taking office earlier this year. She has consistently argued that the border crisis is a result of Mayorkas’ incompetence and failure to enforce immigration laws.
Greene’s resolution specifically highlights several incidents that she believes warrant Mayorkas’ removal from office. One of the key points includes Mayorkas’ handling of the surge of migrants at the southern border, which she argues has posed a serious threat to national security. She points to the increase in drug smuggling and human trafficking as evidence of Mayorkas’ failure to adequately secure the border.
Furthermore, Greene also criticizes Mayorkas for his inaction and lack of transparency regarding the vetting process for Afghan refugees. She argues that his failure to properly screen these individuals poses a potential risk to national security, as there is a possibility that terrorists may have entered the country.
Greene’s impeachment resolution is likely to face an uphill battle in the Democrat-controlled House. However, she remains undeterred and continues to rally support from her fellow Republicans, urging them to take a stand against what she perceives as a threat to national security and the rule of law.
While some Republicans have expressed reservations about the viability of impeaching a Cabinet member, Greene argues that holding Mayorkas accountable is necessary to ensure the safety and well-being of all Americans. She contends that the very act of introducing an impeachment resolution sends a strong message to the American people that their representatives are willing to take bold action to protect their interests.
It is worth noting that Greene’s push for impeachment is not unique. There have been previous calls from some Republicans to impeach Mayorkas, particularly in response to his handling of the border crisis. However, these efforts have thus far gained little traction.
As the debate over Mayorkas’ performance continues, one thing remains clear – the issue of border security is far from resolved. The Biden administration has faced fierce criticism from both sides of the aisle for its handling of the border crisis, with Republicans arguing for stricter immigration policies and Democrats calling for more humane treatment of migrants.
In the midst of this contentious debate, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s renewed push for Mayorkas’ impeachment adds another layer of complexity to an already polarizing issue. While it remains to be seen whether her efforts will ultimately succeed, they serve as a reminder of the deep divisions and strong emotions surrounding the topic of immigration in the United States.
