MTG compares Trump to Jesus, calling both convicted felons
In Nevada recently, while introducing Donald Trump at an event, Rep. Marjorie Taylor-Greene likened Trump to Jesus. Highlighting both as having been convicted, she referenced Jesus as once being a convicted felon, similar to Trump who was recently found guilty of 34 felonies related to a Manhattan hush money case. Greene’s comparison came while she was supporting Trump in his political campaigns across key battleground states, including Nevada.
Warming up the crowd for Donald Trump in Nevada over the weekend, Rep. Marjorie Taylor-Greene (R-GA) compared the former president to Jesus — again.
She said Jesus was a convicted felon like Trump, who was recently convicted of 34 felonies by a New York jury for his role in a Manhattan hush money case. The House Republican gave the remarks as part of a longer speech as she helps Trump on the campaign trail in political battleground Nevada.
“The Democrats and the fake news media want to constantly talk about, ‘Oh, President Trump is a convicted felon,’” Greene said. “Well, you want to know something? The man that I worship is also a convicted felon. He was murdered on a Roman cross.”
Jesus was not a convicted felon, though he was arrested by Roman authorities. Felonies did not exist in ancient Rome when Jesus lived. The concept was invented around the 14th century in England.
Greene has compared Trump with Jesus before, saying Trump was similar to the central figure of Christianity when he was arrested.
“Trump is joining some of the most incredible people in history being arrested today,” she said at the time. “Nelson Mandela was arrested, served time in prison. Jesus was arrested and murdered by the Roman government.”

The Georgia Republican is up for reelection this November. She won landslide victories in 2020 and 2022 and has been an ardent supporter of Trump.
Greene previously made headlines with her attempted removal of Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) from his post, which he survived with the help of Democrats in May.
