Budget hawk Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) stepped up her criticism of House Republican leaders this week, saying their performance has been subpar and that they will be “lucky” if a Trump victory in the fall election keeps them in power.
In a series of posts on X, the Republican advocate of former President Donald Trump said voters won’t be happy when they hear more about what was in the budget bill Congress passed before taking a two-week Easter recess.
“If House Republicans are lucky, Trump drags us across the line in November and we will still have the majority next Congress, but we won’t win the majority on our job performance!” she wrote between constituent visits.
“We have not put up the fight to give conservative Republicans and America First voters across America any reason to want to vote for Republicans after Trump is gone,” she added.

Greene is leading the effort to push House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) aside because she believes he should have secured more GOP wins in the $1.2 trillion spending plan signed by President Joe Biden.
“Under Speaker Johnson the House showed them a future Republican Party that not only did NOT listen to its voters, reminded them that the Swamp has its ways and will never change unless it is forced,” she said.
She filed a motion to vacate, similar to the one used to oust former Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, which cleared the way for Johnson.
“My motion to vacate is a force for change and Republicans better take it seriously and spend the necessary time planning and coming together for new leadership that will not serve the ‘Uniparty,’ but instead holds firm to our convictions and the promises we make to the people who send us to represent them,” she wrote in one post directed to Johnson.
“You might not like it but you know I’m right,” she added.

Several Republican members and voters have ripped the spending on pork projects in the budget bill. They have also decried the lack of big border funding. The spending bill was passed mostly with a big push by Democrats in the House and Senate.
Several conservative groups were also upset with the bloated budget that kept the government open.
