MTG denies reports she’s eyeing presidential run in 2028

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has denied reports claiming she is considering a presidential run in 2028. The rumors stemmed from a report by NOTUS, which cited multiple sources, including one who reportedly spoke directly with Greene about the matter. Greene dismissed the claims as baseless gossip and criticized the reporter, Reese Gorman, for publishing the story without verifying information with her communications team. She suggested the media was bored and desperate, emphasizing her focus on her current congressional duties.

The report also mentioned that Greene believes she is the true “MAGA” candidate and that she has the national donor network necesary to win a primary. Over the past year, Greene has been moderating her public image and making media appearances, including on the liberal talk show *The View*. She has made headlines for occasionally breaking with her own party on various issues and even received praise from Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. Earlier in 2025, Greene also denied rumors of a 2026 gubernatorial run in Georgia, citing corruption in state politics.

MTG denies reports she’s eyeing presidential run in 2028

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) denied reports she was eyeing a run for president in 2028, bashing those who reported that she was.

On Wednesday, NOTUS published a report that Greene was positioning herself for a 2028 presidential run, citing four people familiar with the matter, including one who allegedly discussed the plans with her directly. Greene was quick to shoot down the claims, going after Reese Gorman, the reporter behind the story.

“Here’s my text response to Reese Gorman at Notus. Apparently, Notus is a gossip blog; shame on the editor. ‘Sources,’” she wrote on X derisively. “Congress needs to go back in session because DC reporters are bored and desperate.”

She attached a screenshot of her text to Gorman, calling his article “baseless” and criticizing him for not reaching out to her communications director.

“Who is your source? Laura Loomer? She claimed I was running for governor last week and announcing it in the view. Once again, you publish baseless gossip. Very disappointing. Don’t text me again,” Greene wrote.

The source speaking with NOTUS told the outlet that Greene allegedly claimed that she is “real MAGA and that the others have strayed,” and she believes she has “the national donor network to win the primary.”

Green originally sparked speculation over the past year, when she began moderating her image and appearing on media circuits. Her most daring media appearance came on Tuesday when she appeared on The View, a famously liberal show, where she was warm with the hosts.

She has made headlines over the past several months over her willingness to break with her party on issues such as healthcare, the handling of documents around sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, Israel, and the government shutdown. She even earned praise from Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY).

Greene faced speculation she would throw her hat in for a Georgia gubernatorial run in 2026 earlier this year, but shot down these rumors in July, claiming Georgia politics was too corrupt.
