MTG asserts Trump’s brief visit to flawed Fulton County Jail will connect him with the community.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene: Trump’s Bond with the Community
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) made a bold claim on Friday, stating that former President Donald Trump’s visit to the historic but bug-ridden Fulton County Jail would create a strong bond between him and the surrounding community.
The former president voluntarily surrendered to authorities at the Atlanta jail on Thursday night, facing charges related to a sweeping racketeering indictment that implicated 18 of his allies. This indictment is connected to their alleged efforts to overturn the results of Georgia’s 2020 presidential election.
What to Expect When Trump Turns Himself In to Fulton County Jail
“Processing Pres Trump in the Rice Street jail - where conditions are so inhumane inmates have died eaten alive by bed bugs – will bond Trump to the very people who live in those neighborhoods,” Greene posted on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter. “The poor people in Atlanta have suffered more under Biden and Democrat policies than ever before. $4/gal gas, inflation doubling the price of food, high crime, increase in deadly drugs, cartel linked gangs and sexualization and sex traffic of their children. And they all remember EVERYTHING was better under President Trump who Fani Willis just arrested.”
The former president is now facing 13 felony charges, including violating Georgia’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act. Notably, Rudy Giuliani is also facing the same number of felony charges.
Trump’s processing at the jail, notorious for its inhumane conditions, marked the fourth time this year that he had to turn himself over to authorities. However, Thursday’s surrender was the first time Trump had a mug shot taken.
Greene stood among the crowd of Trump supporters outside the county jail on Thursday night, showing her unwavering support as the former president was being processed.
“The reason why I’m here is because this is my home state. I was born and raised in the state of Georgia, and I’m here as a Georgian,” Greene expressed outside the jail.

The congresswoman further expressed her support on social media, stating that she would vote for the former president in 2024, even if he had to campaign from jail. Trump has been indicted four times this year but has consistently maintained his innocence in each case.
As of now, a trial date in Georgia has not been set. However, Fani Willis, the district attorney, has requested an October 23 start date for the trial involving Trump and his co-defendants. Willis intends to try all 19 defendants together.
