Ukraine also received more German and US-made multiple rocket launchers, part of a series of high-precision heavy weapons deliveries promised by its allies, the Defense Minister said Monday.

Kyiv’s government has repeatedly begged to send long-range artillery to the west as it attempts to change the course of Russia’s February 24 invasion and attack Russia’s supply lines and ammunition depots. ..

Moscow accuses the West of dragging conflict by giving Ukraine more weapons, and the supply of long-range weapons expands Russia’s control of more Ukrainian territory for its own protection. He said he justified the attempt.

Ukraine has received four US-made high-mobility artillery rocket systems (HIMARS), Defense Minister Olexi Reznikov said.

“Thanks to @POTUS and @SecDef Lloyd Austin III, and the people (in the US) for strengthening #UAarmy,” Reznikov wrote on Twitter.

HIMARS has a longer range and accuracy than Ukrainian Soviet-era rocket artillery, allowing Ukrainian troops to attack Russian targets that were previously unreachable.

Experts estimate that Ukraine already operates up to 12 HIMARS systems.

The Ukrainian army also received three MARSIIM LRS, the German version of the US-made M270 multiple launch rocket system. The delivery was announced on July 26 by German Defense Minister Christina Lambrecht.

“Germany’s MLRSMARS II, the third brother of the Longhand family, has arrived in Ukraine,” Reznikov wrote on Twitter.

According to the specifications of the manufacturer Krauss-Maffei Wegman, the MLRS MARS II can attack targets up to 70 km (43 miles), depending on the type of ammunition used.

Designed to destroy troops and equipment, air defense, command posts and communications, and lay minefields.

Ukraine has received German Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled howitzers so far. On July 26, Rambrecht also announced the delivery of five Gepard anti-aircraft systems.

Kieu previously stated that he needed 1,000 howitzers, 500 tanks and 1,000 drones, among other heavy weapons, to repel Russian troops.

Other countries supplying Ukraine with artillery systems include the United States, United Kingdom, France, Norway and Poland.

Russia describes its actions in Ukraine as a “special operation” to demilitarize its neighbors. Ukraine and the West dismissed this as an excuse for an unfounded war. (Report by Aleksandar Vasovic, edited by Tom Balmforth and Andrew Heavens)
