Recall Alert: Over 85,000 Highchairs Sold at Major Retailers
In a recent announcement, federal regulators have revealed that more than 85,000 highchairs sold at major retailers across North America are being recalled due to a fall hazard that has resulted in a handful of injuries.
The recall affects approximately 83,000 Boon Flair and Flair Elite Highchairs sold in the United States, along with an additional 2,850 highchairs sold in Canada. The distributor, TOMY International Inc., based in Oak Brook, Illinois, and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) have issued the recall.
The recall notice states that the bolts securing the highchairs’ seats can loosen over time, causing the seats to detach. To date, TOMY has received 34 reports of the chair separating from the base, resulting in two dozen falls and 11 injuries, such as bruising or scratches.

The affected highchairs were sold both in-person and online through popular retailers such as Bed Bath & Beyond, Target, Toys ‘R’ Us, Amazon, and Walmart. The “Flair” highchairs were sold between 2008 and 2009, while the “Flair Elite” models were sold from 2008 to 2017.
To determine if your highchair is included in the recall, you can check the model number and manufacturing date codes. All of the recalled highchairs, available in various colors, were manufactured in China before 2016.
If you own one of the recalled highchairs, it is crucial to stop using it immediately. TOMY advises that there is no need to return the highchair. Instead, affected customers are encouraged to contact the company to receive a free repair kit.
The repair kit provided by TOMY includes a set of bolts, split washers, and flat washers to fix the highchairs and ensure their safety.
