“This remains a developing situation, and no additional details are available at this time,” Scot Keith, a JBLM garrison public affairs officer, said.

The crash occurred around 9:00 p.m. in a rural area near Olympia, Washington. Authorities said the scene of the crash is believed to be about 40 miles from the base.

There has been no confirmation of how many people were on board or of their condition.

“We have been advised that the military lost contact with a helicopter in the area, and we are working closely with JBLM to deploy any resources needed to assist,” the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

In 2024, two pilots were injured at Joint Base Lewis–McChord when a helicopter crashed during routine training.
