Mike Turner criticizes Trump’s civil fraud ruling, expressing distrust in the court’s decision
Rep. Mike Turner Doubts Ruling Against Donald Trump in New York Court
During an appearance on Meet the Press, Rep. Mike Turner (R-OH) expressed skepticism regarding the recent ruling against Donald Trump in a New York court. Judge Arthur Engoron had ordered Trump and his Trump Organization to pay over $350 million in damages as a result of a civil fraud lawsuit filed by New York Attorney General Letitia James. Host Kristen Welker questioned Turner about his trust in a presidential candidate who is now prohibited from conducting any business in New York for the next three years.
“Actually, I don’t trust this court decision,” Turner stated. “As a practicing lawyer specializing in commercial transactions, I find the entire premise of this case, which legal analysts have deemed unusual, to be unjustifiable. We will have to wait and see how the appeals process unfolds in this case.”
Turner further suggested that if the ruling were to stand, it would have far-reaching implications for “all businesses” in the state.

This recent ruling follows Trump’s $83 million payout resulting from a defamation suit filed by author E. Jean Carroll.
The former president has been active on Truth Social, where he shared multiple video clips of Letitia James passionately discussing the lawsuit in public. In response to the ruling, James mocked Trump in a statement, accusing him of “perfecting the art of the steal” in reference to his book Art of the Deal.
