Senior Fox News correspondent Mike Tobin hiked to the top of Mount Everest this week in the name of suicide awareness among first responders and veterans.
Tobin shared video of his hike over 29,000 feet above sea level and his moments on Everest’s summit. The correspondent brought attention to the 22 veterans and first responders who commit suicide every day in the U.S.
“On the summit of Mount Everest, Tuesday, May 27, I did 22 pushups in recognition of Veteran/First responder suicide. To troubled warfighters and public servants: I hope it shows someone gives a d***,” Tobin captioned the video of his feat on X.
Tobin acknowledged some backlash he’s received online for the campaign.
“I’ve seen critics on Twitter calling it a stunt,” Tobin said on Fox News’s America’s Newsroom Thursday, referring to X’s former name. “They’re not wrong, but it’s a stunt I did inside the death zone, and I hope I reach a guy. And if someone is out there and in trouble, reach out to me on Twitter.”

During his career with Fox, Tobin has covered the wars in the Middle East and Ukraine from the ground.
Due to Mount Everest’s height, there is less oxygen at its summit, allowing only roughly 15 minutes for most climbers to enjoy the view before they must begin their descent.
