Melania Trump to welcome White House Christmas tree ahead of Thanksgiving
First Lady Melania Trump is set to welcome the White House christmas tree on the Monday before Thanksgiving. The tree, a Concolor fir selected by White House Superintendent of Grounds Dale Haney, will arrive at noon and be presented by Rex and Jessica Korson, owners of Korson’s Tree Farms.Their farm was chosen as the Grand Champion Grower this year by the National Christmas Tree Association, allowing them to provide the official White House tree.
This marks the first time since 1985 that a Michigan-based farm has won this honor, and Michigan’s third win overall since the contest began in 1966. North Carolina holds the record for the moast wins wiht 16, followed by Pennsylvania with 11. Volunteers will also begin decorating the White House for the Christmas season on the same day the tree arrives, continuing through the week except for Thanksgiving day. Additionally, the White House will resume public tours starting December 2, after a pause for ballroom renovations.

First lady Melania Trump’s press office said the White House’s Christmas tree will arrive on Monday, three days before Thanksgiving.
The first lady will be joined by Rex and Jessica Korson, the owners of Korson’s Tree Farms, for the tree’s arrival at noon. The National Christmas Tree Association selected Korson’s Tree Farms as its Grand Champion Growers this year, allowing them to present one of their trees for the White House’s official Christmas tree.
White House Superintendent of Grounds Dale Haney selected the tree, a Concolor fir, in September.
“Thank you to the amazing, wonderful gentlemen from the White House. You made this process a little less nerve-wracking! We just want to thank everyone for all the support throughout this experience. Thanks to our family, friends, and crew members for all you do. We couldn’t do any of this without you!!” Korson’s Tree Farms said on Facebook.
The National Christmas Tree Association contest for the White House’s Christmas tree dates back to 1966. Korson’s Tree Farms is the first winner based in Michigan since 1985, and Michigan’s third winner since the competition started.
North Carolina holds the record for the most wins in this competition, clocking in at 16 victories, four of which took place in the 1990s. Pennsylvania follows with 11 wins.

Monday also marks the day volunteers will begin decorating the White House for Christmas. It will be decorated for the entire week, excluding Thanksgiving Day. The first lady’s office opened applications for volunteer decorators in August.
The White House is also resuming public tours on Dec. 2, after a brief pause for its ballroom construction.
