Megyn Kelly laments the loss of ‘someone sent by God’ in Charlie Kirk
Talk show host Megyn Kelly reacted to the news of political activist Charlie Kirk’s passing live on her show and lamented that the country lost “one of the most important voices.”
Kelly was live-streaming with fellow talk show host Glenn Beck when she read a headline reporting that Kirk had died of a gunshot wound at age 31.
“And if these reports are correct, his children have lost their father. Erika’s lost her love,” Kelly said between tears. “And we have lost one of the most important voices that we’ve had in my lifetime on the right. One of the most important messengers. Someone sent by God to change minds and hearts on the most important, divisive, difficult issues of our time.”
According to Kelly, the pair were slated to host an event similar to the Wednesday event at Utah Valley University, where a gunman fired a single shot at Kirk. Another event at Virginia Tech was slated for two weeks after the Utah event.
“I’ve been looking forward to sitting side by side with [Kirk] and having a window into what Charlie does because it is brave. It is brave. It’s different from what he does on the air and what I do on the air,” Kelly said. “He actually is changing hearts and minds, which is what makes him a threat.”
As of Thursday, Turning Point USA canceled its internal and external meetings. Events featuring Kirk are now in limbo, including a debate with streamer Hasan Piker slated for later this month. Kelly implied she would still attend upcoming TPUSA events.
“I’ll go anywhere that the Turning Point team wants me to go. I will say exactly what Charlie would have said, anywhere they ask me to,” Kelly said.
EDITORIAL: WHAT THE MURDER OF CHARLIE KIRK MEANS
“That’s the only possible way through this: to live up to his legacy, continue his messaging, and support the enormous family that loved him. He wouldn’t have it any other way. He would be so angry at us if he thought that even one of us cowered now.”
Kirk leaves behind his wife Erika, a daughter, and a son.
