MTG supports age limits in Congress following recent incident.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene Calls for Congressional Age Limits
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has sparked a heated debate by calling for age limits in Congress following Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s (R-KY) recent health scare.
During a press conference on Wednesday, McConnell experienced a momentary freeze, lasting approximately 30 seconds. This incident marked the second time it has happened this summer. Greene wasted no time seizing on the situation, using McConnell’s example to advocate for age limits in Congress. She also highlighted other politicians who suffer from mental ailments, emphasizing the need for change.
“Severe aging health issues and/or mental health incompetence in our nation’s leaders MUST be addressed,” Greene passionately stated. “Biden, McConnell, Feinstein, and Fetterman are examples of people who are not fit for office, and it’s time to be serious about it.”
Greene didn’t stop there. She went on to criticize the friends and family of McConnell and other politicians, expressing her belief that they should be “ashamed” for enabling and allowing these individuals to remain in office. The stakes, according to Greene, are nothing less than our country’s national security.
“We are talking about our country’s national security, and it’s all at stake! The 25th amendment and other measures need to be on the table,” she added.
Interestingly, Greene’s statement found support from an unexpected source. Rep. Dean Philips (D-MN) echoed her sentiments, also criticizing the friends and family of aging politicians like McConnell and Feinstein.
“For goodness sake, the family, friends, and staff of Senators Feinstein and McConnell are doing them and our country a tremendous disservice,” Philips expressed on social media. “It’s time for term limits for Congress and the Supreme Court, and some basic human decency.”
The call for age limits in Congress has ignited a passionate debate, with both sides arguing for the future of our nation’s leadership.
