Massie says Trump releasing alien files ‘weapon of mass distraction’ from Epstein
Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) criticized President Donald Trump on Thursday night for announcing he would be releasing government files related to aliens. He categorized the decision as an attempt to divert attention from the Epstein files.
“They’ve deployed the ultimate weapon of mass distraction, but the Epstein files aren’t going away,” Massie said in a post on X. “Even for aliens.”
Trump announced he would “begin the process” of releasing government files “related to alien and extraterrestrial life, unidentified aerial phenomena, and unidentified flying objects” in a Truth Social post on Thursday night.
“Based on the tremendous interest shown, I will be directing the Secretary of War, and other relevant Departments and Agencies, to begin the process of identifying and releasing Government files related to alien and extraterrestrial life, unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), and unidentified flying objects (UFOs), and any and all other information connected to these highly complex, but extremely interesting and important, matters,” Trump said in his Truth Social post. “GOD BLESS AMERICA!”
COMER SAYS ‘REAL BAD PEOPLE’ SPOKE TO EPSTEIN POST-CONVICTION, INSISTS FILES ABSOLVE TRUMP
Massie’s criticism and Trump’s announcement about releasing government files about aliens came on the same day Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the former Prince Andrew, was arrested in the United Kingdom due to suspected misconduct while in public office in connection with the investigation into Jeffrey Epstein.
Massie, along with Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA), has been one of Congress’s most fervent supporters in demanding transparency regarding the Epstein files. Khanna introduced the Epstein Files Transparency Act on July 15, 2025, and Massie cosponsored it on the same day. In the days, weeks, and months following the bill’s introduction, 23 other Democrats joined on to co-sponsor the bill.
Trump signed the bill into law in November.
