Massie brings in record-breaking fundraising haul after bucking Trump

Representative Thomas Massie (R-KY) has achieved a record-breaking fundraising haul of nearly $800,000 in the third quarter, surpassing his previous single-quarter record. With over $2 million cash on hand, Massie’s campaign spent around $506,000, largely on early media buys. Known for opposing much of the House republican caucus’s legislation, including government funding bills and former president Trump’s policies,Massie has faced criticism and threats from Trump, whose aides have launched a super PAC to target Massie in the 2026 midterms.

Massie garnered attention by aggressively advocating for the full release of files related to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. He introduced legislation and a discharge petition to force a House vote after GOP leaders blocked the measure. The petition is expected to gain enough support to compel action, tho the swearing-in of a supportive newly elected representative has been delayed amid allegations this is linked to her backing of the petition. massie’s efforts highlight his independent stance within his party and spotlight ongoing controversies regarding transparency about Epstein-related documents.

Massie brings in record-breaking fundraising haul after bucking Trump

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) surpassed his fundraising record in Q3, bringing in nearly $800,000 after pushing a massive pressure campaign for a full release of the files related to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Massie hauled in $782,155, besting his previous single-quarter record of $648,142, with a little over $2 million on hand. His campaign has spent around $506,000, with over half of this being early media buys.

Massie is known for going against the grain of the House Republican caucus, often voting against large pieces of legislation such as government funding bills and President Donald Trump’s “Big, Beautiful bill.” The Kentucky Republican has continuously been slammed by the president, who has threatened to unseat him.

Trump aides launched a super PAC earlier this year that will aim its efforts at unseating Massie in the 2026 midterms.

“Massie is weak, ineffective, and votes “NO” on virtually everything put before him (Rand Paul, Jr.), no matter how good something may be. He is disrespectful to our great military, and all that they stand for, not even acknowledging their brilliance and bravery in yesterday’s attack, which was a total and complete WIN,” Trump wrote in a TruthSocial post.

Aside from voting against Republican-led legislation, Massie joined Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) in introducing legislation to force a full release of the Epstein files as the issue has heated up in recent months. Massie later introduced a discharge petition to force a vote on the bill after GOP leadership refused to put it on the House floor.

After winning a special election, Rep.-elect Adelita Grijalva (D-AZ) is expected to sign the Epstein discharge petition and reach the necessary 218 signatures to compel floor action, but Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) has delayed Grijalva’s swearing-in, a move some Democrats have said is due to her support of the petition to release files related to Epstein.

The Washington Examiner reached out to Massie’s office and the White House for comment.
