President Joe Biden’s disastrous pull out of Afghanistan not only cost the lives of 13 Americans but also revealed a shocking and humiliating order given to the Marines. According to a new book titled “Kabul: The Untold Story of Biden’s Fiasco and the American Warriors Who Fought to the End,” Biden made the Marines act as janitors and clean up the airport in Kabul, leaving it pristine for the Taliban.
It wasn’t just a simple cleaning task, as the Marines were reportedly ordered to clean up human feces left behind by Afghan refugees who had sheltered at the airport. This abhorrent assignment was given to them just days after a suicide bomber killed 11 Marines and two other service members, along with 170 civilians, during Biden’s failed pullout.
The Marines were instructed to stand shoulder-to-shoulder and walk through the airport to pick up trash and debris. The book authors, Kerry Dunleavy and James Hasson, criticize Biden for giving the Marines the biggest “f*** you” assignment any soldier could ever receive.
The Marines were also tasked with cleaning up vehicles that might be flipped over to make the Taliban feel more comfortable as they took over the airport. The book reveals that even battalion commander Lieutenant Colonel Brad Whited joined his soldiers in this janitorial duty.
Unsurprisingly, the Marines were not happy about this assignment. The order caused low morale across the Corps and infuriated not only the soldiers assigned to the duty but also those who heard about it. The book also mentions that the platoon was threatened with being left behind if they did not comply.
General Frank McKenzi, who was in charge of the withdrawal, recently criticized Biden’s decision, calling it the “wrong decision.” He expressed regret over not evacuating embassy personnel, American citizens, and at-risk Afghans earlier, stating that it was a serious mistake that directly led to the events of August 2021.
Regardless of what General McKenzi knew or didn’t know, this order to act as the Taliban’s janitors during Biden’s bugout exemplifies the disdain that Joe Biden and his administration have for our military.
