Recipients must be U.S.citizens or certain qualified noncitizens, live in one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, or the Northern Mariana Islands, and not be absent from the United States for a full calendar month or 30 consecutive days.Payment amounts vary based on factors such as the number of people filing; examples include individual filers up to $994, couples up to $1,491, and those providing essential care to SSI recipients up to $498.
