Maine Massacre Suspect Found Dead, Manhunt Over
Shooter Suspected in Maine Massacre Found Dead, Ending Manhunt
The shooter believed to be responsible for the deaths of 18 people in Lewiston, Maine, has been discovered deceased, according to law enforcement officials. The news of Robert Card’s death was confirmed by the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office in a Facebook post on Friday night.
Maine Governor Janet Mills also confirmed the information during a news conference shortly after. She informed reporters that the body of Robert Card had been located in Lisbon and that he was deceased. Governor Mills even reached out to President Biden to share the news.
A relief, I’m sure, but this is also probably going to deny people some much-needed explanations, which is a shame. Pray for peace, healing and comfort for all those with unanswered questions.https://t.co/Fti5IqrVTi

The body of Robert Card was found at Maine Recycling, where he had previously worked, according to Leo Madden, the owner of the company. Maine Department of Public Safety Commissioner Michael Sauschuck stated that it appeared Card had taken his own life, although the exact time of death was not immediately known.
Card is suspected of carrying out the deadly attacks at a bar and a bowling alley in Lewiston, Maine. The incidents prompted a shelter-in-place order for Androscoggin County and part of Sagadahoc County, which was only lifted early Friday. The victims ranged in age from 14 to 76 years old.
While the news of the suspect’s death brings some relief, it also denies people the opportunity to receive much-needed explanations. The community is now called to pray for peace, healing, and comfort for all those left with unanswered questions.
