Man Utd secures $1.1bn Adidas kit deal for a decade.
Manchester United Signs £900 Million Deal with Adidas
Manchester United has renewed its partnership with Adidas, signing a 10-year deal worth £900 million ($1.1 billion). This agreement solidifies Adidas as the official kit supplier for the English soccer club.
After securing a top-four finish in the domestic league last season under manager Erik ten Hag, Manchester United will return to the prestigious UEFA Champions League this year. This achievement has further increased the club’s value and appeal to potential buyers.
Adidas became Manchester United’s official kit sponsor in the 2015/16 season, ending a 23-year hiatus. The German sportswear giant took over from Nike in a record-breaking £750 million deal.
In a joint press release with Adidas, Manchester United stated, “The new deal increases the focus on the Manchester United women’s team since their reintroduction in 2018.” This highlights the club’s commitment to promoting women’s football.
While the Glazer family, the American owners of Manchester United, are still in talks to sell the club, potential suitors like Qatar’s Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani and British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe have expressed interest.
The new deal with Adidas will extend the partnership until June 2035, ensuring a long-term collaboration. The original agreement also includes provisions that tie a portion of the yearly payments to the club’s participation in the Champions League.
Adidas CEO Bjorn Gulden expressed excitement about the partnership, stating, “We will combine tradition and innovation to please both the players and the fans.”
Last month, Manchester United raised their annual profit and revenue forecasts, further solidifying their position as one of the top clubs in English soccer.
