More⁣ than three-quarters of Trump voters want him in the⁤ primary debate

According to ⁤a polling memo from bipartisan public affairs ⁤firm‍ Firehouse Strategies, 66% ⁤of Republican voters believe that‍ former⁤ President Donald Trump should⁣ participate in the Republican National ⁤Committee’s primary debate. This number rises to an impressive‍ 77% among dedicated‌ Trump supporters.

Debate performances that ⁤made a ⁢difference in the past and potential 2024 candidates who could replicate⁤ them

Despite much speculation, Trump confirmed on Sunday that he will not be attending the ⁢debate. In a ‍post on ⁣Truth Social,⁣ he highlighted a recent CBS poll that showed him leading the‌ field by “legendary” numbers.

“The public⁤ knows who I am and the‍ successful presidency⁣ I had, with achievements such as Energy Independence, Strong Borders & Military, Biggest EVER ⁤Tax & Regulation Cuts, No Inflation, Strongest Economy⁤ in⁢ History, and ‍much more. ⁤Therefore, I‌ WILL NOT BE ⁢PARTICIPATING IN ⁣THE DEBATES!” he added.

Trump ‍has previously used ‍his lead in the polls as a justification for‍ avoiding⁤ debates.

The⁤ RNC debate is scheduled for Wednesday ‍evening and will be broadcast by Fox News. Several candidates, including‍ Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), businessman Vivek⁢ Ramaswamy, former⁢ Vice‍ President Mike Pence, former ‌U.S. Ambassador to the‌ United Nations Nikki Haley, Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), ‌former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Gov. Doug Burgum ⁤(R-ND), former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson, and‌ Perry Johnson, have met the requirements to participate.

Candidates are required ‍to sign a loyalty pledge‍ committing to support the⁢ eventual Republican ⁢nominee in ⁣2024. While this pledge has been a point of contention⁤ for some candidates, including Trump, ⁤it is supported⁤ by⁣ 71% of Republicans who consider it important.

Reports suggest that instead of participating in the debate, ⁢Trump may ‌opt for an interview⁤ with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson.

Although ‍Trump himself won’t be present, members of his campaign staff and surrogate network will ensure his representation⁢ in‍ Milwaukee, Wisconsin. ⁢Notable supporters such as Kari ‍Lake and Donald Trump Jr.⁢ have‍ announced their plans to attend. Additionally, Reps. Matt Gaetz (R-FL)‍ and Marjorie Taylor ⁢Greene ⁢(R-GA) ‌will be in attendance ⁣and provide‌ analysis on the Right Side Broadcasting Network.

Regarding Trump’s absence, senior adviser Jason Miller previously stated, “President Trump leads the Republican field ‌by more than 40 points. So he’s going to dominate the conversation ⁤at the debate whether he’s there or not. Meanwhile, Ron DeSanctimonious is dropping like a rock and finds ‍himself in ⁣third place in many ⁢polls with his ‌opponents smelling blood in the ⁣water.”
