Payment software stops processing donations for Palestinian terror-linked NGO.

The‌ Major ‌Payment ‍Processor Stripe Drops Donations for Controversial Charity

The major payment processor Stripe has made the decision to no longer handle donations ⁢for an ”anti-capitalist” and ‍”progressive” ⁣charity. This comes after multiple reports by the Washington Examiner exposed the nonprofit group’s ties to Palestinian terrorism.

“We are pleased to see financial institutions‍ take appropriate action against‌ those who fund‌ terror and ⁣will continue to contact and inform other financial institutions that may not realize they are assisting terror funding when they do business with Alliance for Global Justice,” said ⁣President Marc Greendorfer of ⁣Zachor Legal‌ Institute.

A‍ coalition of 11 pro-Israel groups had called on Stripe to sever ties with ⁣the Alliance for Global ⁣Justice, an Arizona organization that has faced scrutiny⁤ for its connections to the ⁢Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine terror group. Stripe’s decision to ⁤cut ties with the ‌charity comes after software company Salsa Labs dropped them earlier this year. Interestingly, the Alliance’s fundraising operation has now shifted to PayPal, while ⁢Stripe quietly made their‌ exit.

Continued Efforts to Combat Terrorism Funding

The Zachor Legal Institute, ‌a think‍ tank ⁣fighting antisemitism, has accused the Alliance for Global ‍Justice of providing material support to ⁤terrorism in violation of federal law. They have been actively reaching out to financial institutions to raise ⁢awareness about the charity’s ties to terrorism.

The Washington Examiner’s articles have shed light on how the Alliance‌ fundraised for Collectif Palestine Vaincra, a French member of the⁤ Israeli-designated terror coalition ⁢Samidoun. Samidoun has shared staff members with the Popular Front, which has been responsible for ⁢notorious plane hijackings and bombings. Zachor has⁢ also highlighted the Alliance’s involvement in campaigns‌ that support and‌ glorify ⁢convicted terrorists.

Stripe had initially stepped‍ in to provide the Alliance with software⁣ services ⁤after Salsa Labs stopped handling credit card transactions for them. However,⁣ pro-Israel groups celebrated when Stripe⁣ ended‍ their partnership, as it meant the Alliance could no longer fundraise electronically.

PayPal‍ Steps In, Discover Steps Out

PayPal has now taken over as the payment processor ⁣for⁤ the Alliance,‌ despite having previously cut off services for Samidoun. In 2021, Samidoun was designated ⁢as a terror ⁤group⁤ by the Israeli government, and ⁢PayPal closed Collectif⁤ Palestine Vaincra’s⁢ account⁤ in June 2020. Discover also stopped ‍processing donations for the Alliance in‍ 2021.

PayPal’s acceptable use policy ⁣explicitly prohibits the promotion of hate, violence, and any ⁣form of intolerance or financial exploitation of a ‌crime. However, the Alliance’s ties to terrorism seem to have gone⁤ unnoticed by PayPal.

Continued Scrutiny and‍ Calls for Transparency

The Alliance for Global Justice has faced criticism for its fiscal sponsorship of various ⁣organizations, including ‍the Honduras Solidarity Network, ⁣Popular Resistance, Black ⁤Lives Matter-Oklahoma City, and left-leaning legal groups. Pro-Israel watchdog group NGO Monitor has commended financial companies for distancing themselves from NGOs with alleged ties to terror groups and those accused of ‍hateful⁤ activities, ⁢and⁤ they⁣ urge PayPal to do the same.

Stripe, which ‍processed $817 billion in transactions last year, has strict terms and conditions that prohibit working with groups that engage in unlawful violence⁤ or discrimination based on various characteristics. ⁤The company has disclosed its partnerships with Wells‍ Fargo, PNC Bank, and ⁣Cross River ⁣Bank.

Republicans in Congress, including Representatives Cathy McMorris Rodgers and Mike Lawler, have previously ‍criticized Stripe ⁣for processing‌ donations for the ⁢Alliance. McMorris ‌Rodgers called for transparency from Stripe ⁣regarding their decision to work with a group with ⁣suspected ⁣ties‌ to⁢ Palestinian terror organizations.

Both the Alliance for⁣ Global⁤ Justice‌ and PayPal declined to comment on the matter. Stripe’s spokesperson stated that they have a‍ policy against commenting on specific cases.
