“Pray that the spell breaks and the world is saved,” Carlson wrote on X on the weekend after calling the strikes “absolutely disgusting and evil.”

Public opinion is divided on Trump’s war, but most polls underscore that Republicans, even those who consider themselves to be MAGA, support the Iran war, despite many voting for him because of his “America First,” anti-interventionist foreign policies.

A survey conducted this week by The Economist and YouGov found 91% of respondents who describe themselves as “MAGA supporters” approve of Trump’s war.

Similar results have appeared elsewhere. A Vandenberg Coalition and TargetPoint poll found more than 9 in 10 “MAGA or Trump conservatives” backing the conflict, while an NBC News survey reported 90% approval among MAGA-aligned Republicans. In the NBC survey, just 5% of Republicans said they thought Trump should not have launched Operation Epic Fury.

The conflict could still become politically dangerous for Trump if the economic and human toll rises.

“We’ll be watching Republican women who historically [have been] first to break with the GOP on issues like healthcare and the [Jeffrey] Epstein files,” Paleologos said. “Longer term, some of the core MAGA voters will defect if oil stays above $100 per barrel and the stock market keeps tanking. That’s when political ideology will be trumped by the splintering of personal finances.”

Regardless, the White House welcomed the MAGA support reflected in the polling, contending “the vast majority of Republicans understand the truth.”

“President Trump’s decisive action to protect the United States from the deadly threat posed by the rogue Iranian regime is courageous and necessary,” White House spokeswoman Olivia Wales told the Washington Examiner. “The president has always been clear that Iran, the world’s No. 1 sponsor of terror, can never obtain a nuclear weapon, and his actions now will make America – and the world – safer and stronger.”

Trump himself told independent journalist Rachel Bade last weekend, “MAGA is Trump” and “MAGA is not [Carlson and Kelly].

“MAGA wants our country to prosper and be safe,” the president told Bade. “[The strike on Iran] is a detour we must take to keep our country and other countries safe.”
