Loeffler relocating SBA office in Minneapolis after ICE shooting

Small Business Governance Administrator Kelly Loeffler has ordered the relocation of the agency’s Minneapolis district office, citing “overwhelming local hostility” toward Immigration and Customs Enforcement after an ICE officer fatally shot 37-year-old Renee Good. Loeffler said on X that SBA resources will be shifted to “cities that comply with federal law” and accused some communities of impeding federal efforts to deport and detain criminal undocumented immigrants, which she said hurts small business protection. She did not name the new location for the office. The move follows broader tensions in Minnesota, including a federal fraud investigation that prompted a pause on SBA grants to the state, and comes after authorities claim the officer acted in self-defense when Good allegedly refused to exit her vehicle and struck the officer with her car.

Loeffler relocating SBA office in Minneapolis after ICE shooting

Small Business Administration Administrator Kelly Loeffler has ordered her agency to relocate its Minneapolis office after the deadly shooting involving an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer earlier this week.

Loeffler announced the move on Saturday due to the “overwhelming local hostility” toward ICE after one of its officers shot and killed 37-year-old Renee Good in Minneapolis when she refused to exit her vehicle and instead drive off and appeared to hit the officer with her car.

“Following the events of this week, and the overwhelming local hostility toward Immigration and Customs Enforcement, I have ordered [the Small Business Administration] to begin relocation of our agency’s Minneapolis district office,” Loeffler posted on X. “Since Day One, I have been clear that SBA will not continue to surge resources to communities that refuse to protect their small business owners by impeding this Administration’s efforts to deport and detain criminal illegal aliens.”

While she did not indicate where the office, currently in downtown Minneapolis, would now be, Loeffler said SBA offices would be relocated to “cities that comply with federal law — and take seriously their responsibility to promote public safety on Main Street.”

The move is the latest from the Trump administration in a state that has been the center of controversy for months.

TRUMP ADMINISTRATION CLAIMS VIDEO FROM MINNESOTA OFFICER’S POV PROVES HE ACTED IN SELF DEFENSE

The Minnesota fraud scandal largely involving the state’s Somali community has been under investigation by federal officials, leading to several convictions and indictments as well as the halting of all SBA grants to the state.

The killing of Good by ICE on Wednesday, which allegedly occurred in self-defense as Good “weaponized” her vehicle, has only further stoked tensions between state lawmakers and the administration.
