Letitia James faced boos onstage at FDNY event
New York Attorney General Met with Boos at FDNY Event
Letitia James, the Attorney General of New York, faced a less-than-warm welcome when she took the stage at a New York Fire Department event on Thursday. The event, held in a Brooklyn church, was meant to honor and promote members of the FDNY.
However, as soon as James approached the podium, the audience erupted in boos. It is believed that these boos were a response to her recent victory in a civil fraud case against former President Donald Trump.
Despite the negative reception, James addressed the crowd, urging them to show respect in the house of God. “First, simmer down,” she said, attempting to calm the audience.
Later in her speech, it became clear that the crowd’s support for Trump was the driving force behind their hostility. Some individuals even began chanting the former president’s name.
FDNY Chief Condemns Disruptive Behavior
FDNY Chief John Hodgens was quick to distance the department from the rowdy reception. In a statement, he emphasized that the ceremony was meant to celebrate the accomplishments of the promoted members, and the disruptive behavior was an embarrassment to the renowned fire department.
James’s office did not respond to requests for comment from the Washington Examiner.
It is worth noting that New York Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron recently ruled in favor of James in the civil fraud lawsuit against Trump. The ruling ordered Trump and his organization to pay over $350 million in damages and prohibited him from conducting any business in New York for the next three years.
