Legacy media’s ‘rock bottom has a basement’ with Boulder attack coverage: Joe Concha

In an article by Joe Concha for the *Washington Examiner*, the author critiques the legacy mediaS coverage of a recent terrorist attack in Boulder, Colorado. The suspect, Mohamed Sabry Soliman, an Egyptian national, overstayed his visa and was reportedly granted work permits by the Biden administration after his visa expired. Concha argues that this highlights broader issues regarding the deportation of illegal immigrants, which he describes as a significant problem for the government.

He also takes issue with how some media outlets portrayed Soliman’s family after the declaration of their deportation, suggesting that they painted the family as victims rather than focusing on the severity of the crime. Furthermore, Concha criticizes NBC for linking the attack to Elon Musk by mentioning the availability of flamethrowers, which he sees as a distraction from the main issues at hand. He concludes by stating that the media’s attempts to connect the suspect to broader narratives reveal a lack of journalistic integrity. Following the attack, a federal judge paused deportation proceedings for Soliman’s family, which adds further complexity to the ongoing immigration debate.

Legacy media’s ‘rock bottom has a basement’ with Boulder attack coverage: Joe Concha

The Washington Examiner’s Joe Concha rebuked the legacy media’s coverage of the terrorist attack in Boulder, Colorado.

The suspect in the attack, Mohamed Sabry Soliman, is an Egyptian national who overstayed his B2 nonimmigrant visa after it expired in February 2023. Concha noted how the Biden administration gave Soliman two work permits after his visa expired, which he called a “huge problem” for how long it could take to deport all of the nation’s illegal immigrants.

“And then when the family, it was announced by the White House, was also going to be deported, the family of the suspect, this is what USA Today wrote, this is the headline: ‘Border suspect’s daughter dreamed of studying medicine; now she faces deportation,’” Concha, a senior writer for the Washington Examiner, said on Fox Business’s Kudlow. “In other words, she’s the victim here.”

Concha also highlighted NBC’s coverage of the attack, specifically how the media outlet tried to connect it to Elon Musk. While the the attack’s suspect set victims on fire using “a makeshift flamethrower,” NBC claimed flamethrowers are commercially available for sale and that Musk’s company used to sell flamethrowers

“So yeah, you want to talk about the media beclowning themselves once again, they’re proving their rock bottom has a basement,” Concha stated.

MEDIA COVER TRUMP 92% NEGATIVELY YET HAVE LITTLE IMPACT. HERE’S WHY

The White House has said that Soliman’s wife and five children will be deported, but a federal judge on Wednesday evening granted the family’s request to pause deportation proceedings. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement took custody of Soliman on Tuesday after he was booked into the Boulder County Jail and was held on a $10 million bond.

Following the attack, acting U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director Todd Lyons said the Trump administration is shifting focus to target visa overstayers.
