As the California gubernatorial recall election charges on, current Governor Gavin Newsom (D) appears to be playing politics while his chief challenger, Larry Elder, seemingly points to solutions for the state’s many issues.
During a Tuesday press conference, Elder said under Newsom’s leadership the Golden State doesn’t shine as bright anymore.
“So crime is going up, the cost of living is going up, homelessness is going up,” he noted. “The quality of our schools are going down. Business people are leaving.”
Elder slammed Newsom by saying it’s hard to find anything he’s done that has benefited Californians.
“We’re not managing our forests properly, we’re having rolling brownouts for crying out loud,” he continued. “I can’t think of any front where this man (Newsom) has done a good job.”
Elder has endured attacks from the California political establishment. Newsom has tried to stigmatize Elder to voters by saying he’s to the right of President Donald Trump.
“Either we vote ‘no’ on this recall or in a matter of weeks the next governor of the state of California is Larry Elder and I just want you guys to know a little bit about that prospect,” said Newsom. “Larry Elder not only supported Donald Trump, he’s to the right of Donald Trump.”

Meanwhile, Democrats have attempted to brand the recall as only being backed by Republicans. Elder has slammed that notion by saying Californians across the politician spectrum want Newsom out of office.
“I’m here to talk about why Californians, almost 2 million of them, signed a petition to recall,” he stated. “This is not about Washington, D.C. It’s about California. It’s about California losing businesses. It’s about California losing jobs. It’s about California paying people not to work. It’s about crime. It’s about our poor government schools.”
Elder has maintained a significant lead against his fellow candidates as the state is quickly approaching September 14, which is the last day Californians have to cast their votes in the recall election.
