Republican National Committee Co-chairwoman Lara Trump said former President Donald Trump will be nominated at the Republican National Convention even if he is in jail.

The convention is slated for July 15, just days after Donald Trump’s July 11 sentencing date following his hush-money trial conviction. The possibility, however unlikely, of Donald Trump being placed in jail or under house arrest was not lost on his daughter-in-law.

“Here’s the bottom line,” Lara Trump said in an interview Wednesday on Real America’s Voice. “It doesn’t matter whether Donald Trump is in Trump Tower, Mar-a-Lago, or anywhere else they may try to put him.”

“On the day that we, as the Republican Party, will be nominating him as our official candidate and our official nominee for president, he will accept that no matter where he is,” she continued. “He will go on to be our candidate all the way to Nov. 5, when he then is reelected as our 47th president.”

There’s plenty of belief that placing Donald Trump in jail before the convention would have positive ramifications for his campaign. Lara Trump argued that Donald Trump’s 34 felony convictions were not “a negative for him” because they resulted in a massive influx of fundraising for the campaign.

“I think everybody can only see it’s been a positive for him,” she said. “People in this country see what’s going on with this. They see how third-world and communist it is, and they do not want to see this as the future of America.”
