‘Landman’ blasts ‘bunch of pissed-off millionaires’ hosting ‘The View’

The Paramount+ series Landman took a swipe at ABC News’s The View in its latest episode on Sunday.

In the episode, titled “The Pirate Dinner,” central character Tommy Norris (Billy Bob Thornton) attempts to calm down his father figure, T.L. (Sam Elliott), by suggesting he watch The View, but T.L. isn’t familiar with the show.

According to Norris, the panel talk show is “a bunch of pissed-off millionaires b****ing about how much they hate millionaires and [President Donald] Trump and men and you and me and everybody else they got a bee up their ass about. It’s pretty funny.”

“Don’t sound funny,” T.L. responds.

“Well, it ain’t ‘joke’ funny, it’s like ‘fart in church’ funny, you know what I mean?” Norris replies.

Taylor Sheridan, who occasionally directs episodes, created and wrote the series, though he did not direct this most recent episode. Former The View host Meghan McCain responded to the tease.

“I love Taylor Sheridian,” McCain wrote on X Sunday along with a laughing emoji.

Thornton appeared on The View in November 2024, days after Trump won the presidential election and days before the Landman series premiere. Thornton was nominated for a Golden Globe for best performance in a television series this year.

Since Thornton’s appearance, Paramount+ has released the first season of Landman, containing 10 episodes, and is halfway through the second season. Earlier this month, a third season was confirmed.

Landman is Sheridan’s fourth dramatic series since 2018, which, up until Landman, had largely been historical dramas. This latest series has a contemporary setting. Sheridan was nominated for an Oscar for the screenplay he wrote for 2016’s Hell or High Water.
