Lakers to reveal Kobe Bryant statue.
A Statue to Honor Kobe Bryant to be Unveiled Outside Crypto.com Arena
A statue commemorating the legendary Los Angeles Lakers star, Kobe Bryant, will be revealed outside the Crypto.com Arena next year. This tribute comes after the tragic passing of the NBA superstar and his daughter, Gianna, in January 2020.
In an exciting announcement, Vanessa Bryant, Kobe’s widow, shared a video with fans on Thursday morning, revealing that a statue honoring the five-time champion and his 20-year tenure with the Lakers will be placed in the very location known as “the house Kobe built.”

Vanessa Bryant expressed her gratitude, saying, “On behalf of the Lakers, my daughters, and myself, I am incredibly honored that we will unveil his statue in the heart of Los Angeles, right in front of the place known as the house that Kobe built. This way, his legacy can be celebrated for eternity.”
The official unveiling of the statue is scheduled for February 8, 2024. Kobe Bryant will join the ranks of other esteemed Lakers, such as Shaquille O’Neal, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Earvin “Magic” Johnson, who have also been immortalized with statues.
“Kobe’s spirit continues to inspire us every day,” said Rob Pelinka, Vice President of Basketball Operations and General Manager of the Los Angeles Lakers. “Now, with the unveiling of this powerful and beautiful statue, he will have a physical presence as well. It will be a place on the sacred ground that Kobe created, where we can all gather and pay tribute to a remarkable and extraordinary man.”
The numbers 2, 8, and 24 hold great significance for Kobe Bryant and his daughter, who tragically lost their lives in a helicopter crash in 2020. Kobe wore the Nos. 8 and 24 on his jersey throughout his illustrious career, while Gianna sported the No. 2 during her time on the court, as noted by TMZ.
