Trump is being honored by the Knesset for his efforts in negotiating the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas and ensuring the return of the hostages. The president is set to receive Israel’s medal of honor, which is the country’s highest civilian award, according to reports.
Ahead of his appearance in the building, guests received a red baseball cap in the style of the traditional MAGA hats made famous by the president. “Trump the peace president” were displayed on the hat in place of the words “Make America Great Again.”
Trump entered the Knesset around 11 a.m. local time and greeted Israeli officials. He then signed a guest book with his traditional Sharpie marker, wrote to Israel’s government and people, “This is my great honor — a great and beautiful day. A new beginning,” before providing his famous signature.
Trump’s entrance into the Knesset coincided with rumors that all 20 hostages were officially released. The president had arrived in Tel Aviv, Israel, shortly after Hamas released the first seven hostages.
