Kevin Costner Wins Court Battle Over Child Support
Kevin Costner emerged victorious in a court battle against his estranged wife, Christine Baumgartner, after a judge ruled in his favor on child support payments. The couple filed for divorce in May after nearly 20 years of marriage.
Judge Thomas Anderle’s ruling stated that the 68-year-old actor would pay $63,209 monthly in the custody battle for their children: Cayden, 16, Hayes, 14, and Grace, 13. This decision came after Baumgartner had requested an increase in the initial payment during a hearing.
Initially, Baumgartner had asked for $248,000 per month for child support, while Costner proposed $51,000. The final ruling settled on $63,209 per month.

During the hearing, Costner expressed his regret over the situation, saying, “Somehow in this unusual world, we didn’t make it, and I’m sorry.” He emphasized his desire to continue being present in his children’s lives and mentioned the existence of a prenuptial agreement.
Costner admitted his concern about the financial burden of the child support payments, stating, ”My biggest concern now is that the court orders me to pay child support so much so that… I run out of cash.”
The divorce has undoubtedly shaken Costner’s world. He acknowledged the need to navigate this seismic change and fulfill his responsibilities, particularly spending more time with his children and supporting them through the process.
Costner and Baumgartner officially split in April, with Baumgartner filing for divorce in May, citing irreconcilable differences. Costner was previously married to Cindy Costner and shares three children with her. He also has a son from a previous relationship.
